Instant Pot Spaghetti– The recipe

Preparation time: 5 minutes

Cooking time: 30 minutes

Total time: 35 minutes

Servings: 4

Ingredients

1 lb. ground beef

1 tbsp. olive oil

2 cups spaghetti

4 cups chicken stock

Black pepper, to taste

Salt to taste

For the Marinara Sauce

3 cups canned tomatoes, peeled

1 tsp. onion powder

3 garlic cloves, minced

2 tbsp. Italian seasoning

Black pepper, to taste

Salt to taste

Instant pot spaghetti Preparation

  1. Prepare the instant pot and heat it using the “Sauté More” setting, and wait for 6 to 8 minutes until it reaches the “HOT” state. Once it is ready, add olive oil and ensure it is evenly coated over the bottom.
  2. Add beef and generously season it with salt and black pepper. Cook for 5 minutes or until the beef color turns brown; discard the excess fat and continue to cook for another 5 to 7 minutes or until the beef is slightly crispy. Adjust the seasoning according to your requirement.
  3. Add onion powder, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes.
  4. Then pour chicken stock and scrape off all the browned bits from the bottom using a wooden spoon. Mix well.
  5. Break spaghetti in half and add it to the pot, making sure all the spaghetti is submerged in the liquid and avoid clumping together. Layer peeled tomatoes on top, but do not mix.
  6. Close the lid with the venting knob adjusted in the venting position, then turn the venting knob to the sealing position. Pressure cook for 3 minutes at high pressure. After 3 minutes, allow for natural release for at least 5 minutes. Then release the remaining pressure and carefully open the lid.
  7. Thick the sauce and cook the spaghetti using the “Sauté More” function. Break down the tomatoes using a wooden spoon and stir for a few minutes until the sauce thickens and the spaghetti is fully cooked.
  8. Taste the sauce to adjust the seasoning with roughly 3 to 4 large pinches of salt. Once done, turn off the Instant Pot. Garnish the spaghetti with grated cheese and serve.
